No two people are the same but pilots are a dime a dozen from an HR standpoint. What makes someone stand out from the crowd?
These are all things to consider.
1 - The right kind of resume fluffing.
2 - Internal help.
2a - sometimes a pinch of demographics to mix things up.
Same as every other industry.
