Majors 5-8 years from now?
Hi, new guy here. Hopefully I'm not re-hashing an old thread, though the last search function I tried yielded something from back in 2013.
I'm trying to pick the right regional. There are just as many regional pilots telling me to go somewhere like Envoy or a WO for the flow, as there are telling me the flow isn't going to matter in a few years. I thought I'd ask some of you already at majors who know the scene and the contracts personally. Do you believe your airline will be able to continue to crew its aircraft solely from flows and preferential stuff? Or is this "shortage" bound to hit you too when retirements start kicking off in large numbers?
Why wouldn't I just "go with the flow" anyway? (Sure, it's a good insurance plan to have in case DL or AA still feed from their WOs/partners 5+ years from now.) Because for me, it's about living in base and not commuting while I fly at a regional. So I'm at Skywest living in Seattle. 6 years later, I knock on Delta's door...
I guess my question is... to flow or not to flow?
