I can't read the article but this rumor has been floating around for a bit now.
Allegiant will keep Vegas-Honolulu route

Allegiant Air isn’t ready just yet to call it quits on Hawaii.
The discount carrier said it plans to end Los Angeles-Honolulu service in August as previously announced but that it will continue to operate its 215-seat Boeing 757 aircraft between Las Vegas and Honolulu through the end of the 2017 holiday season.
“We viewed this as an ongoing opportunity to serve the Las Vegas-Honolulu route,” Allegiant said Friday in an email.
The final Honolulu-Los Angeles flight will be Aug. 28, and the last flight from Los Angeles to Honolulu will be Aug. 29.
“At this time, we do not have a final end date for the Honolulu to Las Vegas route,” Allegiant said.
In November, Allegiant announced in a video to employees that it would end its remaining Hawaii service in August due to increasing competition and higher costs for its six Boeing 757s used on the routes.
Allegiant entered the Hawaii market in June 2012 with service from Las Vegas and Fresno, Calif. At one time, the Las Vegas-based carrier served the island from 10 mainland cities before cutting back in recent years.
