There may be a break between indoc and simulator training that gives you a window to update currency. During Sim training you won't have much time for ANG flying. During your TOE there will be a few days off between trips, so it just depends on your personal situation to chose between money from the ANG or time off with family.

I was able to maintain currency throughout indoc, IOE and TOE. I lived near my ANG unit and could show up for a single day to fly, which helped make this possible. I may have even scored a couple two sortie days. The extra ANG paydays helped smooth out the financial transition.

There are multiple variables to consider. Do you live near your ANG job, Delta or neither? Can you show up for just one day and get a sortie or do you need a block of ANG days? How big is your airline transition fund? If you chose to fly at the ANG realize you will be working your tail off. It gets the family conditioned quickly to a worst case scenario, so once things stabilize in 6-9 months the balancing act seems easier.
