Maybe not DL, UAL or SW but I had the exact thing happen to me with Spirit. Flight cancelled due to maintenance and was told next flight was in 3 days. You get what you pay for, you don't like it go pay 5-10x more on one of the others. That's what I was told and they were exactly right.
I totally agree. If you want MD80 flight controls to not be mis-rigged and cotter pins to actually be installed by competent and experienced maintenance technicians. And, for countless DOT controlled maintenance documents to not to be criminally and willfully doctored. Well then, you just need to pony up the cash. You get what you pay for.. Or not.
