Those of you noting that our flights are down...you are right.

Prelim June 2016 Departures: 12,689. This is very low compared to June 2015 departures of 14,292. Matter of fact, summer months are supposed to be our busiest, yet this number is LOWER than our September 2015 scheduled departures of 13,672 which is historically one of our slowest months (this is when time off without pay has been offered in the past). I guess between this and parking the few airplanes is one way of assuring proper staffing.

You know, I can't say anything bad about Air Wisconsin. Have I been screwed by scheduling a few times? Yes, but that comes with the territory. But all in all, my QOL has been good even though I commute, the paycheck has been on time (and correct), and pay has been much better than guys and gals flying newer and bigger equipment (shiny jetzzzzz).

However, even if I am thankful for all the opportunities that AWAC has provided me, which I am, I can not blame anyone one for not wanting to come here. The company has done absolutely NOTHING to attract new hires. The status quo has changed; with companies offering flows, preferential interviews, hiring bonuses, retention bonuses, commuter hotels, and growth there has to be an incentive for people to come here. For a long time our industry leading contract was that key, but even our contract is not enough nowadays because the advances made by other regionals have gotten them close to ours if not better in some areas.

It is a shame because I really do feel we are a great group of pilots and if I had the opportunity to travel back in time, I would choose AWAC again. We get our job done and stay out the CNN headlines.

But in the least give us some hope even if false, because the silence is deafening!
