Sorry I don't have dreams of being management, but I will give you my armchair quarterback analysis. I have used our "open door" policy and sent my concerns to KB, SL, CC a couple years ago. Got a response from SL (not surprising, great guy) that said things will get better. Reserve re-write was announced and empty promises made. No response from anyone else, but I basically showed where SW had lied about reserve coverage numbers that she had sent out in her communication to the FA's. How her reserve numbers weren't even close to actual numbers and it was the same for pilots. This was like 5 years ago. Nothing has changed.
Management is doing exactly what they should do. Get us to work as much as they can for as cheap as they can. We have pilots that feel it is acceptable to get paid 2% less then what every other airline gets paid to fly the same routes. It wasn't my decision to run lean after 117 and force pilots to extend their workday to cover lack of staffing. It wasn't my decision to not invest in software that utilizes staffing better. It wasn't my decision to keep 50% reserve staffing in ORD for the 175 and not utilize TDT to temporarily staff these other domiciles that are below 15% reserve coverage.
Time will tell if they can continue to do things "the way we have always done it" and have it work. Everyone is having to adapt to a new reality within the regionals. Apparently it is cheaper to chase away FO's and hire new ones vs doing the right thing. Again, I am rooting for SW success until I get the call. To those that have decided this is their final stop, I hope the handshake agreements hold up until their retirement.
