On the flip side, I had to slip my training for 3 months (summer '14) for commitments at my previous employer. Delta, to their credit, was supportive the whole time. It also gave me a chance to be home for both my kids birthdays and a family vacation before becoming the company plug. I've never regretted it for a second.
