Sounds like the Canadair side is leaking to the press. That has burned manufacturers before. I wouldn't be surprised if the 88 upgrades go far enough to add life and we get used XXXs. DC9 was supposed to retire in the 90s.

Just sayin' ...Delta is buying aircraft for several carriers now.
