I think our resident troll meant you could/would min run it by not doing any AFTPs and thence give yourself 3 day weekends every week. Which of course, we all understand that: 1) leadership wouldn't allow it (even though it's illegal for them to tell you how to burn your IDTs and civilian credit time) because manning doesn't support that kind of discretion for full-timers and 2) the paycut compared to an AGR would be so dramatic (same job mind you), you'd be better off in the relative insecurity of troughing/bumming, for the same time off. But these are things people on the inside already know, which brings me to my next point..

scoobs, I mean gilligan13, are you a federal civil servant? Or even a pilot, bro? Your suggestion this guy throttle back the part B of his reserve job is a flippant jab and one that either dismisses or is ignorant of the opportunity cost present in that unholy marriage we call the ART job, compared to their AGR and straight TR counterparts. Civil service used to be competitive employment, but after they jacked the FERS funding rate to almost 5% and slashed the benefit from the CSRS days, these days it's just a tread-water post-retirement job for those timing-favored enough to have an AD retirement in their pocket. For everybody else, they're simply too young to give up an AD retirement or airline job income for that kind of paycut. And as it has been illustrated already, there's a lot more than meets the eye when it comes to the effective homesteading time a long-hours job like an ART provides in actuality.
