Airline plus Guard/reserve is a minimum of 16 days a month. That's if you're lucky to live in base. ART gig is 18 days so we're just splitting hairs.
I don't do 4 - 10's. I do 4 - 9's, 1 - 8, 4 - 9's and a day off. It's 20 days a month for me. Most of the airline guys doing short call reserve barely work and come in and RUTA or AFTP (ground) while on reserve or fly at night after they've been released. Other guys do transcon 5 times a month. 1 night in a hotel and back the next day.
I'd rather get 3x as much per hour to just fly an airplane and go home. I don't know about you, but as I get older, my time becomes more valuable. I'd rather work 76 hours a month at $145 an hour than 170 hours at $50.
