Probably depends why he "resigns". If forced out by the board for running a shoddy airline that mistreats labor and customers alike thereby having less longterm value.... then things might improve.
It he "resigns" because he feels that he has pillaged all he can out of the company and he has a lieutenant ready for his/her time at the trough, then probably no, more of the same.

IMHO the endgame of negotiations with MG-ism at the helm is a lengthy strike/attempt to outlast the union that will serve no one other than management philosophical dogmatic burn down the house hatred of organized labor.
