Well, I've got about 8,000 hours in a CRJ (200/700/900), and I can tell you that the 737-800/900ERs that I currently fly land very much like the CRJ 700/900s I used to, but they're easier to work it down at the end for a greaser, so...
If you're talking about the autothrottle and VNAV, I can only assume you have no experience with mainline narrowbody systems. All I can say is that you are greatly overrating the automation: basic stick/rudder/thrust aptitude is in high and regular demand when we start yelling because it starts doing something weird.
