Since normal people pay taxes in the state they live in, go with that.
Normal people pay taxes to the state where they earn the income not where they reside. If you live in New Jersey and work in NYC you pay NY taxes.
As transportation workers we have a exemption to that law if you don't do 51% or more of your work in one state. You then fall back on your residence to pay taxes.
