If you plan on fulfilling your promise of one year, then what's the big deal about the contract? There was a contract before but no real penalty and noone had a problem with that. Maybe the real scumbags are the people that plan on breaking their promises.

Lots of people plan to do the right thing when they set out. Are you going to turn down a dream job because you're under some stupid contract with a 2nd or 3rd tier company?
