Excerpt from union email today: The Last Line of Defense
In the span of 29 days. Allegiant Air has experienced three engine failures and/or QRH-directed shutdowns - encompassing all three fleet types. The catastrophic engine failure on the Airbus aircraft occurred at roughly 50 AGL on the go-around - quite possibly the single most critical moment in any flight regime. Much like having two catastrophic engine failures over a three-day period in the MD-80 fleet at the turn of the year, this statistic is almost beyond belief. This is, of course, in addition to all of the other non-engine related issues that we have been enduring as Allegiant pilots.
