Unfortunately, I don't think it is a specific "type" of applicant they are looking for but more a function of what search criteria are being used at any given moment to scan the applicant database for potential interviewees.

If the computer is fed (I'm making these up for demonstration purposes) certain criteria such as:

1) Four year degree
2) Check Airman/Evaluator
3) 500 hours in the last year
4) 5000 toal time
5) 2000 TPIC
6) Updated profile in the last 60 days

As long as those criteria are turning up enough potential candidates for interviews they may not be changed. In other words, you may have the degree, 650 hours in the last year, 10000 total time, 5000 TPIC and updated your resume last week but no check airman credentials, you may not get the call. Or any other combination lacking one of the search criteria.

When I was applying in the early 2000's to the mid 2000's, I didn't have the type rating. I applied for 5 or 6 years with no call until I added check airman to my resume. I got the call within 1 month after adding it to my profile. I can only assume I had every box checked except the type rating and it was an either or criteria. No interview invitation without one or the other.

Hang in there folks and always keep trying to check more boxes. Also, don't forget to update. I've been told that is often a search criteria (at least it was 10-11 years ago.)
