A NURP is a Non Union Replacement Pilot. These are individuals that UPS has hired as "management pilots". Most of them have no management skill, experience, or qualifications. They climb over the backs of IPA first officers for instant captain status. They don't have any work rules except the FAR's and are expected to fly in the event of a strike. To the best of my knowledge, in the history of the UPS airline not a single IPA captain has ever accepted a "promotion" into management.
