Should it? Maybe I'm old school military, but seems like if you are on the hook for reserve and they are paying you, they should be able to use you however they see fit. Maybe my sight picture is too narrow on this and there are other trickle down effects I don't see

Give the guy a break Select. He missed my point though. My point is that the company is running bases short on reserve coverage and that effects the number one guy in that category as he cannot drop a trip. The manning formula is supposed to fix that after so much time and shortage of reserves. I am not really seeing that hence my contention that it is a unicorn. He is right to a degree in that as a reserve pilot you are essentially salaried as opposed to hourly, so when you are on the hook for reserve you should be at their beck and call. To believe that you should be able to bid reserve and take the month off is featherbedding. I'm not sure that benefits us really but if you want to make the argument have at it. And if that were the case reserve would go uber senior. Ido believe that reserve pilots should be able to pass on a trip until they are the most junior available though. That was some can avoid destinations/trips they do not want to fly.
