Until there is a formal request/policy/ban from the MEC, I will pick up any open time I want, if I feel or want to work a little extra in a month. However, If there ever is a formal open time ban from the union, to achieve a goal (contract, etc), I will gladly follow the ban.
I want none of it. They only thing I have picked up in 19 years is working commuting legs. I haven't seen pay rates high enough to interrupt my free time.
If you ever want this company staffed appropriately and a vacation in the summer or over the holidays, then stop picking up open time. Let it go to the reserves and when they run out of reserves they will get the clue they need more pilots. Well unless you are in the top 10% and then like always in this career, it's F U I got mine.
It's illegal for the MEC to do what you ask. Not ever going to happen as much as it should.
