X-ray, I was active duty AF until I retired and started at Delta. Due to my military commitment, I had to defer my Indoc date 3 months (250+ spots on the seniority list). I interviewed when they invited me, and my availability date never changed...from my application through my interview and my start date.
Slightly apples and oranges to the mil leave scenario but, in my experience, I know of a lot more guys like me out there who "did it right" and deferred their start at Delta for months than the abuser you describe.
