Because managing climb then selecting .75 will pull engine power back and result in a very slow climb. Just put the aircraft headset (that the other 99% use) back into the jack and take the trash bag out and have a nice day. A gradual climb at 800 or 1000 fpm will get you more for your energy at higher altitudes sometimes, just watch your speed and dont let it decay too much. Slowing in open climb will give you a momentary zoom and then go to straight and level....at least let the controllers see some sort of average rate.
Unless I'm completely crazy- managed climb/ selected speed (.75 or whatever) results in THR CL/ CLB.... Which will give climb power.....
