If you are going to ask an AME, call them using a non-aviation friend's cellphone and don't tell them who you are. Many AME's will offer assistance over the phone in this manner in the best interest of safety.

But Rickair is right on... it's much better to utilize another "independent" party such as AOPA, ALPA, etc.
