It doesn't mean a lot. I think it just takes time to get through everybody.
I've had an application on file for over two years, I'm a Seattle native, have significant SEAK experience, been to WAI and the annual local event twice where they always tell me I look very competitive, had recommendations from a current captain, FO, retired captain and had my resume walked into the chief pilot's office by a check airman. The 5-minute SR phone chat is as far as I have gone in the process, and that was in January.
Alaska just isn't hiring in big enough numbers relative to the number of people who are applying.
