Per Diem is income paid to an employee to cover meals and expenses that under certain defined circumstances is not taxable. Period.
Any point beyond that that you're trying to make regarding how we SHOULD get paid or how we SHOULD compare pay rates is semantic.
The federal rate for transportation employees is above our 43 a day, and yes per diem during locals is income
How many locals do non seniors do again?
