I started flying when I was 19. I graduated from college when I was 24. Got hired by an airline at 26. I flew the whole time, but primarily for pleasure and time building. I did not get serious with time building and instructing until I was 24. I had 1700 & 300 when I got hired. I was part 61 trained and instructed under 61.... all local FBO small "hometown airport" flying.

You normally get above 50K when you upgrade to captain. At some regional it takes just over two years, at some it takes longer. The quicker the upgrade, the quicker you are making a comfortable salary. It also helps if you're married and she/he does good also.
