I would be happy if we could just get it to where anything assigned over 83 without consent would be paid at 1.5x FA's get 1.5 on stuff they pick up. It's amazing the schedule flexibility that they enjoy.

See above. They have to pay them 1.5x on anything above 84. Granted it is cheaper to have a bunch of extra FA's vs. pilots. Especially when you are only paying them when they work and there are a lot of FA's that work part time. But isn't it amazing that if you pay people more money for doing additional work, that they will do it without threatening them with letters from management?

Having an abundance of FA is even more of an argument not to give them anything extra. So there must be some history that would be good to understand...
Well the history is, If the pilots negotiate something, then the FA's will get it next time. If the FA's negotiate something, then the pilots will have to give something up to get the same. They got our negotiated per diem and probably other things that I can't think of off the top of my head. Yet any gains they negotiate are not automatically given to us. And I use gains in the loosest terms possible. (I really could care less if I got a winter coat!) They are also very social media savvy when it comes to pay negotiations and can get the alternate view out when the roadshow dog and pony show numbers don't add up. And they don't have to worry about only getting their information from a moderated forum.
