Finally on a wide open flight, got the seat assignment early and the gate agent wasn't busy, so I asked what the proper way to list was since I was under the impression that listing online first was their big deal. She proceeded to explain well they still have to CASS you and that takes some time so they are not likely to do it if there's any sort of line. Excuse me, but basically every other airline out there CASS you at the counter, some like delta and United don't even know I'm showing up to the counter and they do it with a smile. Why is American so difficult?
Any OAL commuters who use AAG have a sure fire easy way to do it so it's not up to the gate agents good grace even if there isn't a line? Not very effective to plan commutes when you don't even know if an agent will finish the listing you already start and if you're running for a flight...
Thanks
I commute on AA all the time. Most agents are willing to check you in, but there are still a few who will give you a hard time. As far as I know there's no secret, but in my experience there's few enough that are reluctant to do it that if I have that happen I just walk to an open gate to an agent that doesn't look busy... But like is said most of the time they'll check me in.
