this is true.. I fly a turboprop and even I don't really like riding as pax in it.. too damn loud. The Dash-8 is one of my favorite planes to fly on as a passenger for the reason you mentioned above. I'd fly on a Dash-8 over a CRJ (if I wasn't in a hurry to get somewhere), especially over the -700, any day.
