You beat me to it. Those of us who went to college 20+ years ago have kids about to/going/recently went to college. We're acutely aware of college tuition.
I thank Sen Liz Warner (former college prof) and every other politician who pushes further liberalization of student loans. All of that student loan money sloshing around has driven up college tuition with a large chunk of the money going to administrators, professors, and unnecessarily lavish facilities.
It is a reality that a four year college degree is a critical square to fill if you want to fly at a legacy. It will be that way in five years and it will be that way in ten years. It will be that way in both times of pilot shortages and pilot surpluses. I don't see it changing any time soon. And in spite of all of the hype, there's not really a pilot shortage right now.
