If you think you or your buddies at some regional produced record profits via your hard labor, take a pat on the back and sit down in your mainline seat. While I have an appreciation for how I got to a major and some fond memories of regional life, I never saw it as anything but a stepping stone. Right now I'm loving the view from above as the regional model readjusts to reality. If you are saying the regionals should remain bigger to keep a supply of major carrier new-hires in proportion to military sourcing, well, you could have unresolved issues because Uncle Sam didn't invite you to play with his jets. Might want to have that checked.
It is like taking out a car loan. Why finance a depreciating asset? Lots of people do it, but it still isn't smart. So in case you don't get my analogy: regional flying is a dying model
