In that case we you would basically be a home based pilot who would TDY to other bases where there IS an open run until such time as you can hold a line in your base.
So while pilots are away from their home base on TDY are they staying at hotels paid for by the company or do they have crew houses for them to crash in? I'd say it would be kind of inefficient to pay monthly rent for a place at a home base if one is away on TDY for more than half of the time as well.
