It is a serious hardship to be gone that long with a family at home. All the heavy non-sked operators run 17-20 day lines so this becomes your way of life. You end up missing a lot of birthdays, school events, etc. and the wife is stuck mowing the grass/shoveling snow and dealing with leaks and such as well as taking care of the kids. The idea of 10-13 days off in a row seems nice, but in reality they fly right by and you are gone again. Just think long and hard if this is the right kind of life for you and your family.
