The CEO sets the tone of a corporation. He gives marching orders and then follows up to see how his men act on those orders. Something tells me though that the CEO of a wholly owned does have his hands tied and has no abilities to demote people below him. Those involved in our flight department seem to enjoy tinkering and toying with items that directly relate to our QOL. Their short term strategy to make themselves look better has consisted of artificially introducing metrics to all things that relate to staffing. This has us howling here and does a huge disservice to pilot recruitment as todays pilots are savvy. They are choosing airlines that appear to have the quickest route to a better QOL and pay. Its hard to deny that our QOL is in the crapper as a result of the artificial metrics that flight and scheduling has put on our schedules.
If they want more bodies here they would be smart to find out what those bodies are looking for(QOL and pay) and abandon the guessing game they've played(they want the flow..no they want bonuses...no they want the 175!).
