Except that you will spend most of your reserve blocks sitting ready for 4 (or 5) days in places like MSP. It doesn't matter where you're based when you're on reserve at Skywest...they'll TDY you (it's called OBR, Out of Base Reserve) wherever they feel like it. More than once, I have been TDY'd halfway across the country to sit reserve in a base, while they TDY guys from that base to sit reserve in my base.

It makes absolutely no sense, except it makes CS's "Reserve utilization metric" look better...."Look, we're using all our reserves! None of these guys are sitting at home getting paid to do nothing!"

The only thing worse than OBR is commuting to reserve. At least with OBR, they're paying for the hotel you'll be rotting away in 19 days a month while flying 4 legs all month. I'm not kidding, either.
