Second, if the captain had tried to "bore me a new one" he would have been disappointed with my lack of caring about his hurt feelings.
Finally, if the DO or CP Were worth their salt, they would have told the captain to pound sand and call Pro Stans, which should have been the first thing the captain should have done if he had a problem.
(The fact that your first reaction seems to be to "rat him out to the CP" speaks volumes...)

not you "ratting" your Captain out... it would have been your Captain marching up to the Crystal Palace to complain about you for apologizing, unsolicited, for his/her behavior.
The ATC tape, if you I downloaded it, may come in handy for your defense if your Captain desires(ed) to initiate disciplinary actions against you.
