It's common sense, and just plain courtesy to your fellow momma U pilots.
My view is that leaving open vents at the gate is not a courtesy, that is, a nice thing to do, but rather an operational necessity, to extend the life of aircraft equipment and to maintain a working area for safety-critical workers that is undistracted by environmental extremes.
