Are we forgetting that he landed a transport category aircraft on the water and completely unpowered? Just because the aircraft will keep itself from stalling doesn't make this maneuver any more safe. One or two degrees of bank and this turns into a cartwheeling aircraft with mass casualties. To say that a 50 hour pilot could do the same or that really any of us doing this would have resulted in the same outcome is ignorant.
