I’m no great authority on contracts but I have lived threw my fair share of their wins and loses. Some years ago, this G4 management team was very different and so was our schedules. We easily commuted with consistent blocks of days off. This “no commuting” thing only began with the hiring of NW management and the addition of F&H solutions as a spiteful reaction to our requests for better. MG even bragged in business publication on how he was going to center attention on employee (pilot) efficiencies along with his strong anti-union stance. At that point pilots who believed Maury had a since of decency and believed he would treat us fairly learned a valuable lesson. He even told a new hire class once; “We’re not family!” Many of us have paid dearly with these single day off schedules. With this proposed TA, big M is attempting to change the pilot profession as a hole. Other airline pilots groups have stood tall and paid greatly for their contract gains against anti pilot managements. We all have benefited from what they achieved and this time unfortunately I believe its our turn. If collectively we vote this TA down……don’t blame the no voters for standing up for the traditions of our profession. We (as pilots) are not different and no business model, slogan, or stubborn resolve from a single individual will change the fact that G4 will be competing for pilots out of the same pilot pool as every other company for future hires. This is not a great TA if it allows for single days off and a CBI (human solver) type PBS. Pay, career and employment securities, and quality of life …..ie scope and schedules are the basic tenets of any 1st major airline contract. In my humble and only partially informed opinion (haven’t read completely thru it) I believe we should strive for and demand everything a professional airline pilot should expect from a successful company. We have contributed greatly towards making it the most profitable airline in the nation. Personally, I stand to lose greatly…dollar wise,… by a no vote….I only ask that you consider all that is at stake and additionally……. consider reading this TA thru the prism that we are negotiating with airline evil. This management has a deep seeded contempt for pilots and the pilot profession. They will manipulate, miss direct, dishonor, and disrespect our agreements and challenge our contracts strength thru litigation. If this TA passes, our fight has just begun.
