I can assure you I felt the same way until I started to read the email updates from management, the fact based approach our Union has taken towards recent negotiations, and the fact that the pay, upgrade, retirement, and job security will all be better at the Legacies due to the shear number of retirements that are GuARANTEED.
I've said it once and I'll say it again. The only reason to come to Sohthwest over a Legacy is if they offer a base you want to live in that none of the Legacies have.
While I agree that domicile preference plays into the overall decision matrix, IMHO, it would be a
very short sighted to use that as the sole reason to choose a career destination.
Even if you live in one of our junior domiciles already, there is
very little about a career at WN that is (or likely will be) better than the other majors for a new hire looking at a 25 to 30+ year career. We are, once again, far behind our peers at the other majors in just about every measurable area of comparison.
