I hear people gripe alot about their job and how the company is out to screw them. I ask, "Why don't you go somewhere else?" I always get told ,"I will have to take a pay cut and lose seniority." The seniority system has trapped pilots in their jobs. Promotion should be based on performance and qualifications, not on longevity alone. The airlines are one of the few industries in the country that operate this way. The majority of businesses promote individuals based on performance and contribution to the company, not seniority. If this were the case at the airlines, everyone would have a chance to get promoted.

I wish I got paid a little more, yes, but I knew what the pay was like when I chose this profession. I love flying very much. I just get tired of the union labor cries I hear all the time. I wish everyone wasnt trapped by seniority where everyone could compete for advancement and promotions and everyone would be happy.
