I realize commuters like to start late on the first day and finish early the last day. That's not the safe or healthy way for pilots to operate. Actually SWA has it right. Stick to circadian rhythm (all AM's or all PM" or all red eyes for example). You feel better, live longer and enjoy your home life more on your off days.

FAR117 was a miscarriage and where it should have shored this up, completely failed. Our work rules should protect us (sometimes from ourselves) but they currently do not. Notice in the UPS contract they have circadian rhythm protection. This is the right way. Schedule with safety? The non ALPA carrier got it right.
