That's probably what he means. We have historically been outstation basing focused. The company seeks a commitment from partner airlines to provide X number of hours/RON aircraft for the outstation bases. Then overlay MX hangers in the outstations and you have a recipe for our basing model. However, one side effect of this is less commutable trips, smaller base sizes, and more frequent base closures and realignment.
Those are my assessments not facts. It appears since I've been here we've realigned an average of 4 bases a year (displacements, closures, displacement vacancies, etc). So if you live in a current base, other than MCI or the western-most base you'll be pretty safe for a few years I expect (few= ~3)
