I'm not defending this guys views, but it seems like the story was manufactured for maximum negative effect. How hard is it for a hack web editor to marry inflammatory comments with the most potentially damaging photo?
If this guy posted the photo of himself, in uniform, with his comments on Twitter than yes, he's an idiot. If on the other hand the incendiary story was manufactured, how about a nod to "presumed innocent" from all you constitutional scholars.
It doesn't matter. Company policy about social media addresses this issue. I've already posted a link of examples of people getting fired for social media misfires, many of them having NOTHING to do with their company. A quick Google search will show countless people who are fired due to social media indiscretions. He most certainly didn't need to be in uniform or mention United to warrant disciplanary action up to and including termination. What's worse is that he's doubling down in the media. Keep talking Buddy. You look like a total baffoon.
