Previous major airline we did not. For the same reason with FedEx hotels. The bulk rate FedEx negotiates for our rooms is well below the rates paid by individual customers who get points. I believe that restriction is far more common with airline crews than you seem to think.

However, it's not all of our hotels. I got 50+ nights worth of Hilton points at the training hotel we use in MEM last year. Many of the Marriott properties we use let us build points for our normal stays.

This falls into the "be careful what you wish for" category. Earning points may come at a cost like free breakfasts, crew discounts, gym use (CGN, KIX), happy hour/executive lounge access (CAN, DXB). Personally, I'd rather not have to pay for the $35 breakfast in PVG during the 10+ days I stay there each year just so I can get maybe one free night for those stays(worth ~$100-$120) using points.
