Actually, if a new hire just wants to get their foot in the door and wants out of the FDA badly, they can bid out on the first bid in which they can hold something else. They just have to be willing to pay back the seed money.

I was basing my opinion on the fact that every FDA pilot has to sign the FDA Agreement Letter. Section 4 of the letter reads:

I understand and agree that the CDG FDA and/or the HKG FDA shall be a temporary assignment expected to last at least two (2) years. At the conclusion of this assignment, I will be able to exercise my rights under the collective bargaining agreement between ALPA and Federal Express to be returned or reassigned to another base or domicile within the Federal Express flight operations system.
Just my opinion, but it appears that 2 yrs is a min, even for a new hire.
