Unfortunately, those issues you mention are MX controllers being MX controllers. I've had that same issue at many different airlines; one of which had over 200 airplanes so not such a small operator.
Systems knowledge and a strong backbone will keep these issues from becoming a problem. Annoying for sure... but not a problem.
Systems knowledge...now that's funny. Particularly since the tng department is doing such a good job of not building that foundation...
