For all you taxpayers out there, a few years back my Army flight company was trying to get an exception to policy to wear the AF issue leather jacket versus the green nomex flight suit version. The leather jacket was about $120 versus $170ish for the nomex jacket and the cost was the big issue we brought up (even though we really just wanted to look cool like the jet jocks). We were told "No," so the taxpayers lost out because of army uniform policy.
