Envoy is receiving new state of the art Embraer 175 aircraft each month and is being positioned to be the premiere regional carrier in the U.S. Envoy also flies the CRJ-700 and the Embraer 145. As an all jet carrier, you will not have to fly a turboprop here. You stand a very good chance to be flying the 175 if you can get in very soon.
Things are looking up at Envoy. Management just announced that all of the Embraer 145 aircraft currently flying at Expressjet will be returned to Envoy in early 2017. This means more flying, more new hires and more Captain slots. We also are looking at Embraer 175 options. American would like to place up to 90 additional 175's at Envoy. You can imagine what this would do to your seniority.
As you may be aware, Envoy has the most robust flow program in the industry. Essentially, we are hiring you as an AA pilot from day one. You can expect to work for Envoy for about 6 years before transitioning over to American Airlines. This is a no interview, no medical flow. Essentially, you are transferring from one department to another.
Disregard any negativity you see here about Envoy. It's from disgruntled ex employees and others who don't even work here and are likely working at a regional with no flow and no future. Envoy has a very bright future and the lifestyle here is similar to one that you would transition into at AA.
Please disregard this schill above.
I am a 5.5 year ENY guy. I am still an FO but have probably had about as easy a path as any FO out there. I was on reserve a month and a half as a new hire and immediately held decent seniority after that in LGA on the CRJ. I enjoy my job and I enjoy the people I work with. Other than the long upgrade, I have had a very cushy and easy career at ENY, so if there is anything close to an unbiased option from an ENY pilot, I am it.
I am also realistic.
Right now we cannot exercise ANY of the 90 175 options due to SCOPE. The 145s returning may be going right back out the door to PDT. Morale is lower than ever, and just when I think it can't get any lower, it drops even more. Pay is poor, even with the bonuses. Second year pay will be a wash or even less than first year pay because of that. The schedules are worse than they have ever been. As a two year FO I was holding 3 on 4 off commutable in LGA. It's been downhill since.
Our flow program may eventually be very good, but right guys from my seniority at PSA or PDT are projected to flow before I do. Our flow projections have fallen short every year.
I feel that all three wholly owned have issues to fix, and if fixed, could be excellent places to work for a few years while waiting on the flow. Envoy has some big problems on its hands and if management was more willing to work with our union leadership, we could get these problems fixed and ENY will again be a desirable place to work.
Unfortunately, for now, it is been needlessly beat on by management and AAG. If the tactics were changed, pay were raised, and schedules made better, it would be an excellent place to work. For now, however, it is very difficult to recommend this airline for a new hire.
