Envoy is receiving new state of the art Embraer 175 aircraft each month and is being positioned to be the premiere regional carrier in the U.S. Envoy also flies the CRJ-700 and the Embraer 145. As an all jet carrier, you will not have to fly a turboprop here. You stand a very good chance to be flying the 175 if you can get in very soon.
Things are looking up at Envoy. Management just announced that all of the Embraer 145 aircraft currently flying at Expressjet will be returned to Envoy in early 2017. This means more flying, more new hires and more Captain slots. We also are looking at Embraer 175 options. American would like to place up to 90 additional 175's at Envoy. You can imagine what this would do to your seniority.
As you may be aware, Envoy has the most robust flow program in the industry. Essentially, we are hiring you as an AA pilot from day one. You can expect to work for Envoy for about 6 years before transitioning over to American Airlines. This is a no interview, no medical flow. Essentially, you are transferring from one department to another.
Disregard any negativity you see here about Envoy. It's from disgruntled ex employees and others who don't even work here and are likely working at a regional with no flow and no future. Envoy has a very bright future and the lifestyle here is similar to one that you would transition into at AA.
Some of us on this board do work here. I have for 10 years. I don't believe anyone should just "disregard any negativity" about envoy, just like they should not believe all of it. Please disregard the management shills, as well as the ex-envoys with blatant axes to grind. The reality is somewhere in the middle, with some uncertainty. There is a lot wrong with this company, with the way they treat their employees. The flow through to AA is not a transfer from one department to another. If that were true, wouldn't management have combined the two redundant "departments" years ago? Here is a quote so common among recent flow throughs that it is almost a cliche here at envoy: "The worst day at AA is better than the best day at envoy." Employee/management relations here almost couldn't be worse.
All of that being said, I do think that a new hire coming here could do worse. It seems that most regionals treat their employees like trash, so we're not alone. The frontline employees here are great despite our feckless leaders. The training department is very good. It doesn't seem like it would be worth commuting here for our awful schedules, but living local is definitely tolerable if you can do it. And we do have a theoretical flow through for new hires, which is better than not having one. It is not a guarantee, no new hire should treat it as one, but if it works it is obviously valuable. Getting hired off the street somewhere is not a guarantee either, but if you come here you don't have all your eggs in one basket, you can work to get hired elsewhere and possibly have the flow as a back-up. Best of luck.
